Speedway Karts are one of the most affordable and FUN motorsports you can get into. Northline Speedway has a number of devout drivers who enjoy the fun and friendly atmosphere of speedway karting here in Darwin NT. Speedway Karts are a great stepping stone into other classes.
Here's some specs and information if you're interested in getting into Speedway Karting
Class: Clubman Modified
Engine: Yamaha KT100S and ARC 100cc (standard KT100S motors like those raced in bitumen karting are eligible)
Gearbox: No
Clutch: If you want to run one
Chassis: Any to start with
Tyres: 6 inch Burris or Hoosier (whichever your budget wants to cater for). These tyres can be picked up second hand often in good condition. As an idea a set of tyres should last at least one full season and costs about $400.00 for a full set brand new.
What are our Driver requirments?: If you're 16 years of age or above 12 months of fun is not as expensive as you might think.
What does it cost to get started?:
Speedway Drivers Licence $185.00
Membership with our parent club Darwin Speedway Drivers Riders Association (DSRDA) $220.00
Membership with our Darwin Dirt Squirts Speedway Kart Club $50.00 per year including affilliation fee with SKAA
Total $455.00 for 12 months of fun plus your kart and driving apparel
What will a kart cost?: Most of our current field of karts all started out life as bitumen karts. It's only a matter of what you can get your hands on to get started. Check places like eBay and Oztion to find a bargain or keep your eye on the weekend paper to see whats in the classifieds!
